Vision screenings do not evaluate the full development of the eye. The American Optometric Association guidelines recommend that all children have a complete vision and eye health examination at the age of six months, three years, upon entering kindergarten, and routine vision care thereafter throughout their school years.
Most young children do not have the ability to articulate any vision complaints. Ensure that your child in starting off in the right direction to learn properly by scheduling a comprehensive eye exam today. Do not falsely rely on school screenings.
Sight is one of the leading way in which we learn therefore early detection of vision problems is easiest to correct if discovered early. Early detection is key since many vision problems are easier to correct the earlier they are found. Comprehensive eye exams evaluate more than just visual acuity, but also evaluate eye focusing, eye teaming, and tracking skills. A problem in these areas can make learning more difficult for the child and school performance can suffer.
