Dr. Johnson was born in Little Rock and raised all over central Arkansas, graduating from Central High School before moving on to undergraduate studies in Biology and Physical Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas. In addition to academics, Dr. Johnson was also a member of UCA's 2002 National Champion cheerleading squad and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, which took part in many local and national charitable causes. These included Alzheimer’s research and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, among others. During his later undergraduate years, he was also a founding member and the first president of UCA's first Pre-Optometry club.
Upon graduation from the University of Central Arkansas, Dr. Johnson began his optometric studies at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. While there, he did several clinical externships in and around the St. Louis/Illinois area where he developed a strong interest in ocular disease while working with the John Cochran VA, O’Donnell Eye Institute and the famed Koetting Associates private contact lens practice.
Dr. Johnson has had extensive experience in several clinical settings including working alongside ophthalmologists in western Illinois and central Arkansas at Illinois Eye Surgeons and McFarland Eye Care.
A 10+ year member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Johnson has been involved in organized optometry since his time as an optometry student in St. Louis in 2006.
When he is not serving the patients of Amerine Eye Care, Dr. Johnson loves to spend time outdoors with his wife Courtney and their beautiful daughter, Addison Blair.
